Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks are now out of the running in the tournament after their loss to Gonzaga. Mark Few brought his Bulldogs close several times but has never won the title in his 25 years with the school. Could this be the year that finally changes? The Arizona Wildcats are the last Pac-12 team left standing to make it to the Sweet 16. Can Tommy Lloyd give the Pac-12 one last championship before the legendary conference is no more?
With MLB Opening Day upon us, how will the Dodgers handle the Shohei Ohtani gambling scandal? In a recent news conference, Ohtani did not take questions, insisted that he has not engaged in any wrongdoing, and maintained that his former long-time interpreter embezzled $4.5M from him without his knowledge to pay off gambling debts. As the media swirls around perhaps one of the highest-profile yet most intensely private players in the MLB, can we expect him to be more forthcoming? What ripple effect will this have on the Dodgers as a whole and will his teammates continue fielding questions on his behalf?
Jontay Porter of the Toronto Raptors is under investigation by the NBA for some prop (how many rebounds a player will get in any given game) betting irregularities. Several dates where Porter played just a few minutes before leaving the court due to injury or illness are coupled with increased betting interest for him to score below the props set out in the over/under predictions for those games. Is this just the tip of the iceberg and an indication that sports betting is getting out of control?
