In January 2003, Alan Saler launched what quickly became a thriving mediation practice. He has always enjoyed the luxury of being an independent, full-time provider of mediation services. As a mediator, he draws on his considerable prior legal experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of litigation matters. During his career as a neutral, he has mediated more than 3,500 civil cases and disputes. His track record is exceptional. Those who have used his services attribute his ability to consistently resolve matters to his legal analysis, evaluative skills, and, particularly, his meticulous preparation and tenacity. In this episode, Alan shares the story of two heroic people who died attempting to rescue the driver of a car involved in an accident, how their deaths impacted their families, and how Alan was able to help the families through mediation.
Upon graduating from Columbia University School of Law School in 1984, Mr. Saler joined Ervin, Cohen & Jessup, where he handled complex personal injury, product liability, employment, professional liability, insurance, and business litigation matters. In 1991, he founded a Los Angeles branch office for Jones Hirsch Connor’s & Bull, a prominent, mid-size New York City civil litigation firm. During the ensuing nine years, he served as its managing partner and lead trial counsel.
Alan Saler is also a “Diplomate Member” of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals (NADN). His mediation practice primarily focuses on mediating personal injury, product liability, employment, and professional liability matters. He is the author of several articles, including recently, “15 Keys to Resolving Your Case at Mediation,” appearing in the September 2021 edition of Advocate.
